Congress raises its problems for Uddhav by putting two of his candidates in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections

Out of the 288 MLAs in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the ruling Mahavikas Aghadi has the support of 170 MLAs, within which Shiv Sena has 56 MLAs, NCP has 54 MLAs, Congress has 44 MLAs and other 16 MLAs. At the same time, BJP has 105 MLAs, while 2 MLAs are AIMIM and one MNS MLA. Apart from this, there are 10 other MLAs.

  • Uddhav's dream of contesting uncontested election broken
  •   Elections will be held on 9 seats of the Legislative Council in Maharashtra on 21 May
In order to increase the headache of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of the State Legislative Council, the Congress fielded two of its candidates. In this election, Uddhav Thackeray and Neelam Gore have been fielded for the Shiv Sena. Neelam Gore is the Deputy Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. NCP is also preparing to field its candidate from two seats. And at the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also nominated Pravin Dadke, Gopichand Padalkar, Ajit Gopchade, and Ranjit Singh Patil for the Legislative Council elections. Which will lead to a lot of competition?

The Mahavikas Aghadi coalition of Maharashtra consists of Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP. And if NCP also fielded its two candidates in this election, then 10 candidates will be in the fray for 9 Legislative Council seats. This will break Uddhav Thackeray's dream of being elected unopposed.

However, elections are to be held on 9 May in Maharashtra on 9 Legislative Council seats. In this election, 288 members of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly will vote. Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shiv Sena, NCP, and Mahavikas Aghadi of Congress on 28 November. And according to the constitution, if a person takes the oath of chief minister without being a member of the legislature, then he has to take membership of any house of the legislature within 6 months, otherwise, his chief minister's chair goes away.

Both the ruling and the opposition face the threat of cross-voting

If 10 candidates contest the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, the voting will take place. And as per the rule, the election of MLC is done by secret ballot, so the possibility of cross-voting increases. And both the ruling party and the opposition of Maharashtra will not want to risk cross-voting due to cross-voting. And this can happen only when one of the parties of Congress and NSP fight for one seat.
Because Out of the 288 MLAs in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, the ruling Mahavikas Aghadi has the support of 170 MLAs, within which Shiv Sena has 56 MLAs, NCP has 54 MLAs, Congress has 44 MLAs and other 16 MLAs. At the same time, BJP has 105 MLAs, while 2 MLAs are AIMIM and one MNS MLA. Apart from this, there are 10 other MLAs.
