I'll be talking about these great campaigns, and what I've been getting out of each of them. The DCC campaign has been, by intent, far more orthodox, working off published materials. The Empress sessions, however, have been far more unorthodox, far more of a creative playground for yours truly. Running both at the same time gives me the advantage of a three dimensional perspective on this whole GMing thing, if you follow my analogy.
What else? Of course, I've put my hands on a bunch of PDFs from DriveThru, although nothing that has blown my mind, of late. I have musings! All this play, recently, has given me a lot to think about, and a much better grasp of what works, and what doesn't.
I've got ideas! Although my monthly group has been playing pretty orthodox DCC with no less that official Goodman Games adventures, I've already used some house rules and original content for that campaign. To be honest, I've already posted most of that here, although I plan to revisit some of that.
My other campaign, however, has really forced me to flex my creative muscles. Without going into mind-numbing detail (yet!), my Empress campaign takes place in the Land of One Thousand Towers, from the adventure Anomalous Subsurface Environment. I've already come up with some original content for that campaign, and I plan to share that here. In preview: Necrobots, and Wrestling Guilds.
Stay tuned!
